As the new year unfurls, so does the promise of endless excitement. The months ahead are poised to sweep us into a whirlwind of celestial explorations, heart-racing sports moments, cinematic masterpieces, and festivals designed to set our senses alight. It’s 2025, and there’s more than just the turning of a calendar to look forward to. In fact, there’s a whole line-up of events just waiting to be discovered. So, whether you’re a space enthusiast, a sports fan, or a movie buff, here’s your guide to the biggest moments that’ll keep you ‘in the loop’. It’s a year bursting with possibilities—let’s dive into it, shall we?
JANUARY
•Bulgaria and Romania will complete the process of acceding to the Schengen Area, removing land border controls as of 1 January.
•The Sundance Film Festival 2025 is scheduled to be held from 18-28 January in Park City, Utah. Renowned as one of the most prestigious film festivals globally it highlights independent films spanning a variety o genres.
•Presidential Inauguration in the U.S. on 20 January.
•Same-sex couples will be legally able to register their marriages from 22 January. This groundbreaking legislation makes Thailand the first nation in Southeast Asia to implement marriage equality.
•On 25 January, the University of Southern California will host the India Conference 2025, which will explore various facets of India’s growth and development.
•The Kabaddi World Cup is scheduled for January, with India set to host the standard-style tournament, bringing together leading teams from across the globe.
•Daryaganj, the renowned Indian restaurant and the birthplace of Butter Chicken and Dal Makhani will open its first international outlet at Park Plaza Bangkok Soi 18 this January.
FEBRUARY
•Maroon 5 will be heading to Bangkok in the new year as part of their Maroon 5 in Asia 2025 tour, with a performance scheduled for 3 February at Impact Arena.
•Five-time Grammy Award®-winning punk rock icons, Green Day, will be returning to Bangkok on 12 February for a performance at Impact Arena.
•On 14 February, the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America: Brave New World (2025), features Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America.
•Leap Day, a rare occurrence, adding an extra day to the calendar year for February 29.
MARCH
•The Thai Grand Prix will take place in Buriram, Thailand, with the MotoGP season commencing on 2 March at the Chang International Circuit, highlighting Thailand’s significance in the motorsport arena
•The 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games will take place in Turin, Italy from 8-17 March.
•NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, who have been aboard the International Space Station(ISS) since June 2024, are now anticipated to return to Earth no earlier than late March.
•A joint mission between NASA and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), NISAR is set for launch in March. The mission aims to deliver detailed Earth observation data, advancing our understanding of natural hazards, climate change, and ecosystem disturbances.
•Meliá Pattaya Hotel, Spain’s Meliá Hotels International’s latest venture, is scheduled to open its doors in March. The 12-storey hotel features a stunning design inspired by Pattaya’s cultural diversity, alongside top-notch facilities and versatile meeting spaces.
APRIL
• Russell Peters, one of Rolling Stone’s 50 best Comics of all time is set to perform in Bangkok on 3 April at KBank Siam Pic-Ganesha Theatre.
MAY
• The Cannes Film Festival, held in Cannes, France, a world-renowned event that showcases international cinema, is scheduled from 17-25 May.
• The Indian Premier League Final will take place on 26 May, marking the culmination of the world’s most-watched T20 cricket league.
JUNE
• The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will take place in the United States from 15 June to 13 July.
• The Hague, recognised as the “international city of peace and justice,” will host the NATO Summit from 24-26 June, marking the first time since the alliance’s founding in 1949.
• The Wimbledon Championships in 2025 are scheduled to take place from 30 June to 13 July, at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London, UK.
JULY
• The 112th edition of the Tour de France will commence in Lille on 5 July and conclude with the final stage at the Champs-Élysées in Paris on 27 July.
AUGUST
• The Summer Youth Olympic Games will begin in Daegu, South Korea, on 8 August, featuring athletes aged 14-18 competing in a range of sports.
SEPTEMBER
• Scheduled for release on 5 September, Baaghi 4 (2025) marks the fourth instalment in the highly successful action-packed franchise. Led by Tiger Shroff, the film is anticipated to deliver a more intense and rugged storyline.
• The World Athletics Championships will be held from 13-21 September in Tokyo, Japan. This prestigious event will feature elite athletes from across the globe, competing in a wide range of track and field disciplines.
OCTOBER
• The National Rugby League(NRL) Grand Final is scheduled for 5 October in Sydney, Australia. This highly anticipated event will determine the champion of the NRL season.
NOVEMBER
• Rolling Loud is making a triumphant return to Asia with Rolling Loud Thailand 2025, the world’s premier hip-hop festival, set to take place from 14-16 November in the Land of Smiles.
• The FIFA U-17 World Cup, the international football tournament for players under 17, is scheduled for November, with the exact dates yet to be confirmed.
• India is set to host the Men’s Asia Cup in October 2025, bringing together the leading cricket teams from the continent to compete for the prestigious title.
DECEMBER
• The SEA Games, or Southeast Asian Games, will be held from 9-20 December, featuring a diverse range of sports competitions among Southeast Asian nations.
• Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025), the third installment of James Cameron’s five-part Avatar series, hits theaters.
• Scheduled for release on 25 December, Alpha (2025) stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. While details about the film’s plot and genre remain under wraps, it is already one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year.
• On the final day of the year, a total lunar eclipse will be visible from various parts of the world, during which the Earth’s shadow will completely obscure the Moon, giving it a reddish hue commonly known as a “Blood Moon.”

Anticipated Events with Dates Yet to be Determined:
• Jurassic World: The Experience is set to open at Asiatique, Bangkok, in the second quarter of 2025. Spanning over 6,000 square metres, the attraction will feature life-like animatronics, immersing visitors in the island of Isla Nublar, the iconic setting for most of the films in the Jurassic World franchise.
• Aman Nai Lert Bangkok is set to open its doors this year, promising an unforgettable escape in the heart of the city. Set within a lush seven-acre oasis, a serene escape awaits with breathtaking views and open-air terraces.
• Andaz One Bangkok, a 244-room luxury lifestyle hotel, will blend vibrant city energy with the tranquillity of Lumphini Park as part of the One Bangkok development. Expected to open in the first half of 2025, it will feature immersive local experiences, a rooftop restaurant and bar, and sweeping park views.
• Nintendo is expected to reveal the successor to its highly successful hybrid console, the Nintendo Switch. Although an exact release date has not been confirmed, industry speculation points to a launch in 2025.
• KROMO Bangkok, Curio Collection by Hilton, is set to open in the vibrant Sukhumvit district in early 2025, offering a chic retreat steps from the Em District,QSNCC, and Terminal 21. With a rooftop pool, 24-hour fitness centre, and prime location, it promises a perfect blend of luxury and convenience in the heart of the city.
• Amazon is set to launch a new suite of AI tools called Nova. These innovations aim to streamline tasks for shoppers, sellers, advertisers, and businesses, improving the overall user experience across Amazon’s services.
• The Standard, Pattaya Na Jomtien is set to open in 2025, bringing in a playful 60s-inspired design and a vibrant beach club to the tranquil Na Jomtien area.
• Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa at Jomtien Beach, opening in Q2-Q3 2025, offers 302 rooms and amenities such as a lounge, bar, restaurants, pool, and spa, inspired by the area’s sugar palm trees and stunning ocean views.
