This year, the much-anticipated Masala Wedding Fair was held over the weekend of June 8th and 9th at the spacious ballroom of Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, an establishment recognised for being one of the city’s top venues for grand Indian weddings.
The fair saw over 90 exhibitors showcasing all the goods and services one would need to host an unforgettable Indian wedding, including spectacular venues, award-winning event services, and stunning merchandise. It also served as the launch for the annual Masala Weddings in Thailand — a comprehensive publication that showcases the Land of Smiles as a wedding destination with immeasurable opportunities.
At the fair, thousands of attendees browsed through stunning ethnic creations, exquisite jewellery and funky Indo-Western- inspired pieces. On top of incredible shopping opportunities, the eventalsoofferedanimpressiveselectionofdeliciousfoodand drinks courtesy of some of Bangkok’s top caterers and beverage suppliers. Moreover, visitors with little ones had a blast at the
Kids’ Club by Playmondo, and those seeking a break from all the hustle and bustle indulged in complimentary massages at the Spa Sanctuary by The Oasis Spa Thailand.
The opening day featured a spectacular lineup of entertainment beginning with soulful vocalist Kash. His medley was followed by Ashna Pawa and Meghna Grover, who performed a Bollywood dance routine. Then it came time for veteran designer Pavni to showcase her new collection titled ‘I Love Me’ which she hoped would inspire women to shed their inhibitions and embrace their true selves.
After a short intermission, the entertainment continued with an electric performance from husband and wife drumming duo, Chickeen Masala. They were followed by a high energy bhangra performance from Japnam Singh and choreographer Pooja Pathela. After vocalist Amrita Sethi took to the stage with her brother Saral to serenade the audience, talented clothier Sumedha Sehgal presented her collection of romantic pastel looks titled ‘Don’t Look at Me, You’ll Fall in Love’. All of the models also donned stunning jewellery from Vishal Jewels by Maheshwaris from Delhi.
The next day saw singer and songwriter Sahil Dhandhia winning audiences over with his incredible voice. He was followed by Sindhuja Krishnamoorthy, who also impressed visitors with her singing. Next, the talented team at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park took over the runway with their ‘Canapé Catwalk’, before couturier Suwannee by Sam presented a collection of ethnic ensembles for every occasion paired with exquisite creations from Khurana Jewellery House from Amritsar.
Masala would like to thank Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park for their support, Design by Peerapach for the stunning event décor, Singh Light and Sound for bringing the stage to life, Team Swaness for glamming up all the models, and Promaster Creation for capturing all of the fun.
We would also like to thank all our dedicated exhibitors and vendors for making this year’s event one to remember. We cannot wait to welcome all of you again in 2020!
