For anyone with a passing interest in Indian couture, Sabyasachi is the household name for high-end bridal fashion; rich, patterned fabrics; and eye-catching jewellery. While any desi bride may dream of wearing a Sabyasachi lehenga as she walks around the mandir, an ensemble from the critically-acclaimed designer, whose collections have graced both New York and Milan’s Fashion Weeks, can easily be an investment of thousands of dollars.
However, for the first time ever, the world-renowned couture brand is collaborating with H&M to bring its glamorous yet classic designs to the masses. Launching on 12th August 2021, the collection will be themed ‘Wanderlust’ and will feature Sabyasachi’s iconic textiles, both modern and classic Indian silhouettes, and pieces that aim to resonate with the current nomadic mindset worldwide. Brought to life by the Sabyasachi Art Foundation, the collaboration will focus on glamorous loungewear and accessories for women and men, meticulously crafted and embroidered to give that couture touch.
Sabyasachi’s design philosophy is “personalised imperfection of the human hand.” Every Sabyasachi piece is lovingly and painstakingly created by skilled artisans using the highest degree of craftsmanship, quality, devotion and care. At Sabyasachi, artistry, creativity and quality are paramount. Each handcrafted object is unique and special; the making of which involves years of learned skills, passion, enthusiasm, commitment, and sincerity, all of which reflect a living heirloom culture.
A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a statement Sabyasachi piece, while taking advantage of H&M’s phenomenal customer service and delivery to your doorstep, the limited-exclusive collection is expected to sell out in a short period of time after the launch in Thailand, while in India, stocks are expected to sell out in mere hours. For those interested in this exclusive chance, it’s recommended that you take advantage of the opportunity as soon as possible, as there won’t be more stock available once the limited amount is sold out.
Originally announced months ago, the launch date for the collaboration with Sabyasachi was initially postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sabyasachi himself released a statement to express his delight at the new launch date, praising the “opportunity to spread the Sabyasachi aesthetic to a wider audience in India and worldwide.” He further announced that he was “eagerly looking forward to bringing this ‘ready-to-wear’ collection that will bring relaxed sophistication to everyday life in an understated yet glamorous style.”
Maria Gemzell, the Head of New Development at H&M similarly expressed the brand’s excitement at being able to announce the new launch date, and had this to say about the collaboration: “At a time like this, we believe people value the use of homegrown crafts and textiles more than ever, and that’s something no one can do better than Sabyasachi. We look forward to taking this stunning collection to as many people across the global as we can.”
The collection will be available only on TH.HM.COM from 12 August, 2021.
