Sorn ranked an impressive 2nd on the list.

This year’s list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants has been unveiled and Bangkok’s fine dining restaurants dominated with a total of nine establishments given accolades.

The list is curated by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, which includes over a thousand experts from all around the world who work together to finalise the list of the best restaurants in the world. The 10th edition of the awards took place on the 29th of March and a ceremony was held simultaneously in Bangkok, Macau, and Tokyo.

Chef Supakorn ‘Ice’ Jongsiri‘s restaurant Sorn, known for their innovative take on Southern Thai cuisine ranked 2nd on the list. Le Du took 4th place. The brainchild of Chef Thitid ‘Ton’ Tassanakajohn, the restaurant centres around regional and seasonal Thai dishes. Chef Ton’s Nusara, which serves cuisine inspired by the chef’s grandmother’s authentic Thai recipes also appeared on the list at number 10.

Chefs Thomas and Mathias’ German fine dining restaurant Sühring ranked 7th, while Blue by Alain Ducasse ranked 25th; Chef Masato Shimizu‘s Sushi Masato placed 29th; Samrub Samrub Thai run by husband and wife team, Prin Polsuk and Thanyaporn “Mint” Jarukittikun placed 31st; much-loved Indian restaurant Gaa by Garima Arora was also on the list at 33. Last but not least, famous street food establishment Jay Fai ranked 46th on the list.
