Stay fresh to depth during all the long weekends this year.
By Aiden Jewelle Gonzales
While Thailand’s influx of long weekends might be bad for our productivity, they’ve been great for our tan lines. The little black bikini might be a classic, but to truly stay in the swim of things, here are 2021’s swimwear trends so you can keep current while fighting the currents.
GO BOLD
From fluorescent basics to florals or polka dots, don’t be afraid to make a statement. For men, vertical stripes and camo prints are in, while ladies, animal prints are the theme so feel free to go wild.
FIND YOUR MATCH
Whether you’re in a matching two-piece and cover- up or coordinating with your S.O., set fire to all your holiday photos with a match(ing outfit) or three.
PUFF IT UP
Puffed-up sleeves and halter tops are the current look du jour. Don’t have time before your next appointment? Slip a lehenga on over your suit and go to a kitty party, with none the wiser.
RETRO SILHOUETTES
High-waisted bikinis for women, A-line cuts for men – these styles have aged like fine wine and are just as vintage. Choose one in a retro print and you’ll soon be bringing maxi back.
ASYMMETRY
It’s been hard to find balance in the last year, so we’ve embraced the opposite – asymmetrical silhouettes and shapes is how everyone is keeping pool for the summer. Sorry, Wes Anderson.
BOWS, BUCKLES, LACE, OH MY!
In the age of Bling Empire, more is definitely more so don’t keep things plain by the poolside. From straps and bows to integrated jewellery, this trend will be sure to make your Insta feed sparkle.
KEEP IT IN ONE PIECE
Gone are the days of minimalist G-strings; one-pieces are now all the rage, but with strategic cut-outs to keep things cutting edge. Mesh has also made a comeback so you can tell your dadi you’re covered up, but still show some skin.
