DIL BECHARA RANKS AS YOUTUBE’S MOST LIKED FILM TRAILER
Dil Bechara, starring the late Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi, is now the most liked film trailer on YouTube, gaining 5.3 million likes within 24 hours of its release, and surpassing the preview for Avengers: Infinity War (2018), which originally had the top spot with an impressive 3.6 million likes. The film, which is an adaption of the popular Hollywood film The Fault In Our Stars (2014), is directed by Mukesh Chhabra and is set to release on the 24th of July on Hotstar. It’s clear that many are clearly extremely eager to watch the film as it is Sushant’s last onscreen performance. Many stars, including Anushka Sharma, Kriti Sanon, Sara Ali Khan, and several others, have taken to their Instagram profiles to share the trailer and show their support for the film.
KARAN JOHAR SUBMITS HIS RESIGNATION FROM THE MAMI BOARD
After being on the receiving end of major backlash for ‘playing a role’ in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Karan Johar has decided to take a step back from being a member of the MAMI Board (Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image).The MAMI Board, which also includes the likes of Deepika Padukone, Zoya Akhtar, Siddarth Roy Kapur and other prominent members of the film fraternity, is best known for leading the annual Mumbai Film Festival. After Sushant’s tragic passing, netizens have reignited the nepotism debate that has plagued Bollywood for decades, reiterating KJ’s role as the ‘flag-bearer of nepotism.’ Although the famed director is best known for launching star kids like Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, he’s also been accused of sidelining ‘outsiders’ who do not come from famous backgrounds, which has led to more fans of Bollywood believing that his favoritism played a role in worsening Sushant’s mental health.
GENELIA AND RITEISH DESHMUKH DECIDE TO DONATE THEIR ORGANS
On the occasion of World Doctor’s Day, Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh shared their pledge to donate their organs to save lives. The couple took to Instagram to share this decision with a video, mentioning that the greatest gift one has is the “gift of life,” before urging people to also consider donating their organs as a form of charity. Multiple people have come forward to applaud the pledge the couple have made, including Abhishek Bachchan, Farah Khan, and Suniel Shetty, who’ve commented on their post with positive comments. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan also shared the post on his Twitter account with the caption, “It feels so good when I see young actors like dynamic @Riteishd & beautiful @geneliad endorsing #organdonation.”
PRIYANKA CHOPRA JONAS SET TO MAKE HER AMAZON PRIME DEBUT
Priyanka Chopra Jonas has announced that she has signed a multi-million dollar deal with Amazon Prime to produce a diverse set of TV content. “As both an actor and producer, I have always dreamt of an open canvas of creative talent coming together from all over the world to create great content irrespective of language and geography. This has always been the DNA of my production house Purple Pebble Pictures, and is the foundation of this exciting new endeavor with Amazon,” Priyanka wrote in an Instagram post. She is currently working on two projects exclusive to Amazon. The first project is Sangeet, a wedding-inspired show that showcases the combination of cultures through matrimony celebrations, whereas the other project is Joe and Anthony Russo’s Citadel which stars Priyanka and Richard Madden in a mystery drama series.
