Located amidst the hustle and bustle of Thong Lor Soi 11 is the new branch of Sathorn’s popular brunch destination, Luka Moto. With an interior that is a perfect blend of modern and rustic chic, this two-storey motor-themed café has fully-functioning BMW motorcycles that are available for test-driving. The masculine appeal is balanced by lively plants and fresh flowers that exude a chic vibe, while large glass-panel windows let in plenty of natural sunlight, creating an airy ambience. In addition, the interior’s spacious layout, with an intimate open kitchen on the second floor, is ideal for hosting private events. The eatery even allows pet-owners to bring along their furry companions. So whether you’re a loyal BMW customer, seeking a private event space, or just searching for a casual venue to bring along your pet, Luka Moto is your go-to restaurant.
Food and Drink
The brunch menu takes pride in their made-from-scratch products and farm-to-table approach. The meal began with the breakfast entrée, Luka Shakshuka (B320). The Middle-Eastern delicacy was a delicious combination of organic farm eggs, spicy tomato gravy, fire-grilled capsicum, Sloane’s chorizo, Greek yoghurt and olives. Served with grilled sourdough, the chorizo’s smoky flavour, paired with a slightly sour tang from the thick tomato sauce, made for delicious, flavourful bites.
Next was Buttermilk fried chicken sandwich (B310), prepared with a crisp battered thigh, with Sloane’s bacon, fresh avocado, organic wild rocket, spicy chilli mayo and naturally fermented slaw on a warm brioche bun. The extra crispy sandwich with tender meat and a slightly tangy flavour was a juicy favourite. This classic item is best paired with the cafe’s fiery jalapeño and pineapple sauce, while ketchup addicts should opt for roasted tomatoes and chilli sauce for a milder fare.
Meanwhile, Smashed avocado open (B240) is a must-try for avocado lovers. The brunch staple includes sliced avocado, kale pesto and fried organic egg on crisp ciabatta, sprinkled with grated parmesan and served with a side salad. The buttery-rich avocados provide a smooth texture, while the egg yolk oozes from the centre with every crunchy bite, making this a rather delicious and nutritious snack.
For a healthy finish, I was served the Acai bowl (B260). Blended with banana and coconut milk and topped with house-made granola, fresh fruit and toasted almonds, this thick and creamy concoction with its naturally sweet and nutty flavour, was a refreshing end to a hearty meal.
Luka Moto boasts an extensive beverage selection of meticulously-curated fruit juices, tea and coffee. Adopting environmentally-friendly practices to take their green culinary ethos to the next level, the café foregoes plastic straws when serving their drinks, unless requested by patrons. A popular order is the Iced Salted Caramel Latte (B120). With Thai grown and roasted espresso, this indulgent drink was the perfect blend of sweetness and creaminess.
Meanwhile, tea lovers should opt for the Luka Ice Tea (B120). Comprising of organic rooibos tea infused with lime, ginger and mint, this naturally caffeine-free drink is sweet with a very distinct earthy flavour. Served in a copper mug with a medley of garnishes, the tea provided the perfect cooling effect on a hot summer day.
