The film has received not one but, two Golden Globe Awards nominations.

RRR, released in March of 2022, has witnessed global popularity, with a fan-base in Japan, Thailand, and The United States of America to name a few. On the 13th of December, the Golden Globe Awards announced that it has now been nominated for two awards, the Best non-English language film category and for the Best original song for “Naatu Naatu”. Over the years, five Indian films have been nominated at the Golden Globes, making RRR the sixth. However, this is the first time an Indian film has been nominated for two categories.
On the 10th of January, Naatu Naatu, won a Golden Globe Award for best original song, making RRR the first Indian film to receive one. Although, it did not win the best non-English language film, its second nomination.
The other films nominated for Best non-English language film category include All Quiet on the Western Front from Germany, Decision to Leave from South Korea, Close from the Netherlands, France, Belgium, and Argentina, 1985 from Argentina. While the other songs nominated for the Best original song include Rihanna’s Lift Me Up, Lady Gaga’s Hold My Hand, Taylor Swift’s Carolina, and Alexandre Desplat’s Ciao Papa.
S.S. Rajamouli directed the film on a budget of $72 million, making it the most expensive Indian film to be made. The storyline is a historical fiction, based on a possible friendship between two individuals, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, who are highly regarded revolutionaries, for their resistance against the British Raj in the 1920s. Since its release it has broken several records starting with $30 million on its first day, making it the highest opening-day collection earned by an Indian film. It is the third highest-grossing Indian film to date with a box office collection of $175.47 million, and the highest-earning foreign film in Japan.
