Kamaal R. Khan, also known as KRK, is stirring up controversy yet again. Only a few months ago, the former Bigg Boss star was in the headlines after claiming that Salman Khan was corrupt and that the running of his NGO called Being Human involved fraud, manipulation, money laundering, and other crimes. He event went so far as to make a string of YouTube videos about Salman before he was hit with a defamation suit that is yet to be resolved. However, KRK has been vocal about not stepping down and that he has a right to publicly express his opinions.
Clearly a harsh critic of the industry, KRK has since moved on to provide explosive allegations about one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, Ranveer Singh. With the mission to ‘exhibit the real, ugly side of Bollywood,’ KRK has claimed that Ranveer’s father, Jagjit Singh Bhavnani, paid a massive sum of 20 crores (200 million rupees) to Aditya Chopra‘s film company, Yash Raj Films (YRF) to launch his son. Although not exactly credible, Ranveer made his debut in the film Band Baaja Baaraat (2010) with Anuskha Sharma, which pretty much paved the way for a very successful career in the industry.
Rumours have been swirling since with supposed ‘insiders’ going so far as to say that Ranveer’s father paid the whole amount by gifting Chopra a bed with a layer of cash placed inside as to not to make it obvious. Others claim that his family never had to pay anything for his big break because they were already affiliated with stars like Sonam Kapoor.
Of course, Ranveer himself has dismissed all claims that his father played any part in him scoring the role. In the past, when similar rumours have surfaced, he spoke to the media and said “There were rumours that my father gave 10 lakh to Aditya Chopra, to get me launched. That really hurt me, it brought my whole upbringing into question. How can you write something so false that I had never said? I had genuinely struggled and am proud of what I achieved. Young actors will message me and ask, ‘Yo bro, I can cough up the money, tell me what I have to do.’ And I have to say that these rumours are not true, stop believing that!”
Well…like many things that have unfolded in Bollywood, I guess we’ll never know the truth!
