When ‘sky is the limit’ doesn’t apply.

In a recent video that took the internet by storm, an Air India carrier (minus the wings) was pictured wedged underneath a motorway pedestrian overbridge near Delhi Airport. Not a sight you’d often get to see, especially on the ultra-busy Delhi-Gurugram Highway, the massive airplane lodged in plain view tickled many netizens, all of whom were trying to figure out just how in the world it got there in the first place.

Because of all the hype, the national carrier company had to release a statement to the press stating that “Air India has got no connection whatsoever with the aircraft under any circumstances,” before going on to explain that the aircraft was actually deregistered, scrapped, sold and was in the process of being transported to its new owner.

Some of our favourite reactions to the stuck aircraft include tweets suggesting the owner should charge 100 rupees per passenger for rides on the grounded aircraft between Delhi and Gurgaon, as well as some silly advice to ‘decrease the air in the tyres’ so it can squeeze through. One distraught Twitter user also posted that he related a lot to this plane as ‘his life looks like this’ right now (hope you’re okay pal).

The wildest revelation to come out of this situation, however, is that this isn’t the first time this has happened. In 2019, a truck carrying an abandoned India post aircraft also managed to lodge it under a bridge in West Bengal. You think people would learn…
