There is no doubt that the current COVID-19 wave that has Thailand under siege is the worst one we’ve had to face since the pandemic emerged. As a result, cities like Bangkok are facing shortages of hospital beds and equipment now that the numbers of infected are rapidly escalating.
As the Ministry of Public Health continues racing to implement new measures for COVID-19 patients, several members of the Indian community have stepped up to help. Over the weekend, the Dudhoria siblings, Pooja, Yash and Vikram, also known as the trio behind SleepWell Group who are at the heart of our ‘People’ feature in the latest Masala Magazine, have kindly donated over THB 1.2 million worth of mattresses, bed bases, pillows, and masks to Charoenkrung Pracharak Hospital.
When asked why this initiative was so important, Pooja, Executive Director of the company, had this to say:
“A shortage of hospital beds for COVID-19 patients is spreading throughout Thailand as the coronavirus continues to surge through the country, and people are getting desperate to secure a bed for their loved ones. During this time we felt the need to step in and help in whatever way we could, and since we manufacture mattresses for major hotel brands, we thought that donating bedding materials was the best way for us the help our nation in a time of crisis. We’d like to thank our team and thank everyone who has supported Sleepwell Industries Co., Ltd.”
The entire team behind Sleepwell Group that encompasses subsidiaries like DreamMaster Bedding, MaskOn, iDreamPillo and SleepHappy Co., Ltd, hope to continue lending their support to more hospitals in the near future.
